Apple Retail's revolving door; Jerry McDougal out as VP - Jason O'Grady

In the fall of 2012 Apple fired?John Browett, the former Dixons executive, as its Vice President?of Retail. Browett was brought in as a replacement for Senior VP of Retail Ron Johnson who left Apple in the summer of 2011 to take a position as CEO of JC Penny.

Apple?s new VP of Retail (and?Browett successor)?Jerry McDougal,?has resigned as first reported by ifoAppleStore and confirmed to AllThingsD.

ifoAppleStore notes that McDougal's responsibilities at Apple included retail marketing, product merchandising, store operations, loss prevention and customer loyalty programs.

McDougal was viewed by some as a potential candidate for the company?s SVP of Retail position.

Apple spokesman Steve Dowling told AllThingsD that McDougal is being replaced by?Apple VP of Finance?Jim Bean.

"Retail has an incredibly strong network of leaders at the store and regional level, and they will continue the excellent work they?ve done over the past decade to revolutionize retailing with unique, innovative services and a focus on the customer that is second to none. Jim Bean is moving to Retail to help support our store teams. Jim has been at Apple for 15 years and is a great leader who understands our culture and focus on customer service."?

According to his?LinkedIn profile?McDougal was VP of Apple Retail for over 12 years. He previously held positions as?VP of Product Merchandising at?PC Connection from 1998-2000 and sales and marketing at IBM for 10 years before that.
